The Sacarello Collection is comprised of over 75 works of art purchased over the years by myself on my annual travels to Latin America andEuropeand by Sacarello's Coffee Shop/Restaurant.
Back in 1992 whilst a restaurant was being planned to the back of Sacarello's Coffee Shop our architect John Langdon remarked that the original features of this old Gibraltar warehouse with its archways and varying levels would lend itself very naturally to exhibiting art John then advised me on my first artistic purchase of three drawings from a Jacobo Azagury exhibition and my art collecting began there and then.
Since 1992 Sacarello's has hosted regular art exhibitions by both local and other artists and invariably we would end up buying a painting or two,as a result of this I started purchasing art from other locally held exhibitions. It was then in a trip to Peru that I became aware of the majesty of the landscapes and colours which awakened my artistic senses and my own eye for art developed;my art collecting subsequently extended to international works which I have since enjoyed sharing with the patrons of Sacarellos.
Sacarello's has by accident become a popular local art gallery where the works on display are constantly changing. Pieces of the Sacarello Collection are on display when there is no visiting exhibition.
All this would not have been possible without John Langdon and Genny Whiteland who have been on hand over the years to organize the art exhibitions ,often at weekends and for minimal personal gain.
Reflected in this Catalogue. are some of the paintings of the Sacarello Collection.
In November 2007 a party was held at Sacarello's to honour John Langdon and Genny Whiteland and to celebrate the Sacarello Collection.
I hope you enjoy viewing our paintings as much as I have enjoyed collecting them.
Patrick Sacarello.
